An Ant(sy) Affair For A Mitchum Resident
The central food point in any home is most definitely the house’s kitchen. This makes it an extreme hotspot for a possible pest infestation. Ants in the kitchen are very common and are, in fact, a routine problem for us to solve.
We recently had a client from Mitchum concerned that she had ants in her kitchen. Our technician attended and spoke with the client about her concerns. All the activity was localized to her kitchen area.
A thorough internal inspection was carried out but this found only minor activity. The client confirmed that they had been using fly spray and retail ant products in an effort to control them. Despite this, they had little luck in keeping them at bay. Unfortunately, this practice will impact our abilities to see the full scale of the infestation. Further investigations under and around the house provided the clues to how we should treat this environment.
It became obvious that the ants were nesting in a paved area of the yard, travelling under the house and into the kitchen.
Due to the fact that the client had an elderly dog in residence, we had to ensure that our treatment did not impact her pet.
A program was implemented that included; baiting, dusting and spraying chemicals in and around the property and we saw some immediate results with ants being attracted to the bait immediately. We are confident that these ants will take this bait back to the nest and eradicate the colony.
Our client has since reported a successful campaign and would like us to schedule an ongoing treatment program to ensure that we keep them under control.
